László Norbert Nemes - Introduction to Béla Bartók’s compositional style based on his 44 Duos for Violins
Join Dr. László Norbert Nemes, currently director of the International Kodály Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music, as he explores Béla Bartók compositional style.
During five interactive classes, the general and individual musical characteristics of Bartók's Violin Duos will be discovered through listening, singing and analysis. Topics include: tone systems and scales, polymodal chromaticism, heptatonia seconda, alternating distance scales, modal and pentatonic harmonies, alfa chords, key structure and axis system, characteristic intervals: the tritone and the diminished octave, ostinato technique, projection technique, symmetries, canon, counterpoint and golden section.
The exploration of the Bartok Duo will will act as an introduction to further classes by László Norbert Nemes at The Exhale on Bartók’s 4th string quartet. November 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th. Booking available soon
