Bass trombonist Justin Clark was born and raised in Rhode Island, USA and was encouraged to perform music from a young age. In addition to an orchestral career that has taken him around the world, Justin is active as a soloist, recording artist, and educator. While at Juilliard in 2006 he won the position for Bass Trombone with the Berne Symphony Orchestra, in Berne Switzerland. Since emigrating to Switzerland Justin has appeared as a guest with many renowned orchestras in Europe, including the Budapest Festival Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Freiburger Barockorchester, and nearly every professional orchestra in Switzerland. In 2013 Justin was appointed Professor of Bass Trombone at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Geneva, Switzerland. He has appeared as a soloist and given masterclasses in the USA, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Brazil, and Taiwan. His solo CD “Permanent Transience”, with his chamber group The Trazient Ensemble, was released to critical acclaim in 2014 with NeuKlang Records. In 2019 they completed a tour of the north east United States with concerts and masterclasses in New York, Boston, Syracuse N.Y., Pittsburgh, and Washington D.C.
Justin has gracefully accepted an invitation to The Exhale during a time when so many musicians and audience members are not in a position to engage with him in the concert hall or the classroom. He is donating his income from The Exhale to musicians without regular income during this pandemic.
