Born in Madrid, Cecilia Bercovich performs on violin, viola and viola d’amore with a very diverse artistic path. As a section leader she has performed under the baton of maestri such as Pierre Boulez, Simon Rattle and Riccardo Chailly at the Lucerne, Salzburg and Bayreuth festivals, among others. She has been a guest of the Ensemble Intercontemporain and the Jerusalem Baroque Orchestra, as well as being a member of the Variances Paris, Quantum Tenerife and Meitar Tel Aviv ensembles.
An enthusiast of contemporary musical creations, her concert programmes often combine premieres with self-penned arrangements. Cecilia has made recordings of concerti and chamber music for Deutsche Grammophone and Naxos. Apart from teaching at the higher schools of music of Aragón and Madrid, current season engagements include leading-conducting the Navarra Symphony Orchestra, a premiere by Joaquín Rodrigo and several recording projects.
